A Stormy Fat and Super Tuesday in the South

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded a large portion of Arkansas and surrounding areas to a "high risk" for severe weather today. Dangerous weather conditions including tornadoes are possible in that part of the country this afternoon and evening.

The storm system that will produce severe weather across parts of the south today will bring us showers and storms Wednesday afternoon. The threat for severe weather isn't nearly as great here in North Carolina, but we do have a "slight risk" for severe weather tomorrow.

A cold front will move through our area during the afternoon just as we hit highs in the mid 70s. That may be enough to produce a few thunderstorms with damaging winds. Stay tuned to News 14 Carolina for updates on the forecast today and tomorrow.

In the meantime, enjoy the spring-like weather here in February. We are set to break record highs both today and Wednesday. The current record at RDU for Tuesday is 74 and the record to beat for Wednesday is 70.
