Second Named Storm forms in Atlantic Basin
Tropical Storm Bertha Formed this morning 190 miles SSW of the Cape Verde Islands. The storm is moving WNW at about 14 miles per hour with current (as of 11 am update) sustained winds of 40 miles an hour. Some strengthening is possible over the next 24-48 hours. The storm is not a threat to the US mainland through the mid week forecast period. The next update from the National Hurricane Center will be at about 5 pm Eastern time.
